Staff training courses

  • The online version of the course:  The DNA of Teen Challenge

We are currently working to create an online version of this course where an individual will be able to complete this course online.

Here is a quick overview of the issues covered in this course. What are the essential elements that make Teen Challenge successful in helping people with addictions and life-controlling problems? This entry level staff training course explores seven key elements of the DNA of Teen Challenge—prayer, evangelism, dependence on the Holy Spirit, discipleship, leadership, a culture of personal responsibility, and faith.

We are currently working to create an online version of this course where an individual will be able to complete this course online.

Another version of this course is already available—where you can download a PowerPoint and notesheet and teach or do a self-study of this course. Free downloads are available at the following link: Intro to the DNA of Teen Challenge

  • Understanding Steps to Relapse 2nd Edition

This course is designed for staff and students and alumni of Teen Challenge. It explores four major issues—the stages of relapse, addiction, recovery, and healthy living. A participant’s manual is already available. Teacher’s guide is under development.  Free downloads are available at the following link: Understanding the Steps to Relapse

We are also repackaging this into a new format for use by students and Teen Challenge graduates who have relapsed. It will be designed with two purposes: (1) as a relapse prevention course, and (2) as a tool to help those who have relapsed to get started on the path to full recovery.

  • Ten part series on Discipleship

These staff training courses are designed to provide entry level staff with training on how to start down the path of becoming an expert at Christian discipleship. Each of the 10 parts of this series can be taught as an independent course. With each of these courses, the goal is to equip staff with practical tools they can begin to immediately apply in their own life and ministry.

All of these are available in English on the website www.iTeenChallenge.org

We are currently working to also release them in Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. Free downloads are available at the following link: Discipleship staff training courses

  • Accreditation

Accreditation is a tool used to assist Teen Challenge centers in structuring and operating their ministry according to standards that will enable them to be most effective in helping people with addictions become successful Christians—healthy persons able to function in society. This basic staff training course is targeted for the leadership of the local Teen Challenge ministry. It will cover both the basic principles and the procedures to move a ministry towards anointed excellence.

  • Personal Studies for New Christians Teacher Training Program

A new version of the Personal Studies for New Christians (PSNC) Teacher Training Program is being planned. The new version of this training course will include a significant video component, taking the new teacher into a virtual classroom to see the students and teachers in action. If you have suggestions on what you would like to see included in the new version of this training, please contact Dave Batty at DBattytc@gmail.com

Student curriculum

  • Personal Studies for New Christians 4th edition

Some of the Personal Studies for New Christians (PSNC) courses have already been revised and are available in the new 4th edition. Our goal is to complete the revision of all the courses and projects in the PSNC and potentially develop new courses.

  • Renewing your mind

One of the most critical parts of becoming a successful person is learning the discipline of renewing your mind. This course can be used for both staff and students, providing practical steps in implementing this in one’s personal life. This course is proposed to be part of the Advanced Studies for New Christians.

A staff training course on this topic is currently available at www.iTeenChallenge.org  This can be downloaded at the following link:  An Introduction on How to Renew Your Mind

  • Solving problems in ways that honor God

Every person, whether they have an addiction or not, needs to develop a toolbox full of strategies to use in solving problems. This course is equally important for staff and students and TC alumni. This course will explore a variety of practical steps that can be used in solving problems. A beta test version of this is available to anyone who would like to field test it. If interested, contact Dave Batty at DBattytc@gmail.com

Other projects

  • History of Teen Challenge

How do we preserve the stories of God’s transformational work in the lives of thousands around the world as a result of Teen Challenge? We are gathering stories of both staff and students , as well as friends of the ministry. Our goal in documenting this history is to provide encouragement to the new leaders who will become part of this ministry in the future. Hopefully their successes and failures will point the way for new leaders to build on these experiences so the future can see even greater works of God in transforming broken lives.
